Fun Times
I had a really great time this weekend. I got to spend time with some old friends that I don't get to see real often. In the picture are my two best friends growing up. From birth through high school we were best friends, then when we graduated we went our separate ways. They both moved to Florida, and since then Marcie's come back to Texas and Stacy is splitting her time between Georgia and Russia. So, we still keep up, but needless to say, we don't get to see each other real often. This summer, though, they both got engaged, and since then they and their families have made the trek back to Denton several times for various things. We've thrown a shower for each of them. The second one was this weekend. The best part about that is that then they're here for the whole weekend, and we get to hang out and have fun. This weekend was such fun, it seemed like old times. The first wedding is in just a few weeks. And the second wedding is in January in Georgia. I'm so excited for both of them.
The sad part, however, is that I've gotten spoiled with seeing them and their families, which are like my own, every month or so. After January, the wedding festivities will be over and we'll probably go back to seeing each other only once a year or so. It's sad that that's what happens. I spent every day growing up with them, and now I'm lucky to see them once a year. I guess that's just what happens when different chapters in life come along. We've all made new friends, all fallen in love, and all are doing different things with our lives. I suppose I should be thankful for that, and should be thankful for times like this weekend when we can get together and enjoy each other's company and remember old times.

Busy Month
Things have been busier the last week or so. I would use that as the excuse for not having posted in a while, but I don't think I could get away with that, since I'm never very regular with the postings. Work has picked up a little bit. The month of October gets busier. Today was a big deadline, so I spent a lot of the weekend working. And it all falls right at midterm time. I have a midterm Thursday night that I started studying for tonight, and should be studying for now, too. The midterm is in my accounting theory class. Unlike a lot of other classes I've taken, it's much more theoretical (hence the name), and that makes me a little worried about the test. We have spent most nights of class just talking about different theories and principles, things we learned long ago, and debating them. It's been interesting, but it makes it really hard to know what he's going to test over. He could pull anything out that has been said in class. Hopefully I'll do fine, but I still do better studying for more concrete things with right or wrong answers. My other midterm, next Tuesday, will be that way. So it will be another fun weekend of studying for that. But, in another couple of weeks, work and school should slow down again and I can get started writing term papers and can get back into reading novels. I did finally finish David Copperfield, and I really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It's long, but it's well worth it. Charles Dickens does such a great job of developing the characters and intertwining them throughout the novel. I will definitely read more Dickens soon. For now, I need to go study accounting theory.
